Born in England, 1949, a baby boomer, I did as my parents bid, by getting a safe career and forgo my desire to be an artist. I didn't’ give up my painting and drawing though and continued on and off throughout my years.
I followed my mother to Australia in 1976 where I eventually got my chance to fulfill my dreams and with my husband’s support studied painting at the University of Ballarat, in 1993, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts and great joy in 1996 with a whole new perspective on art and the art world.
"I always loved my recreational activities but now I have studied art in the form of painting, I have a personal way to express myself that I only dreamed of before."
"I discovered a unique style to develop my expression, taken from the surrealist automatic drawing technique of making marks on the support and communicating with what is found. The marks just about talk back to me and let me know what I should do next and the ideas just grow."
I had a bit of a rough ride in my youth and young adult years falling prey to the sixties and becoming schizophrenic by my early twenties, losing about ten years to sheer hell but through it all I have found my Zen, thanks to Jesus Christ for the journey and the atonement.
I now have a happy home life with my husband Chai and my mum who lives nearby and my two dogs that I refer to as the grandchildren we will never have and who accompany me in my studio sitting on their own couch.
I’m not much with words and prefer visuals so I hope you can enjoy my artworks as much as I have enjoyed creating them."
